Receiving cars to transport radioactive sources
On December 15, 2020, the Department of Nuclear Safety and Communications officially received a car transporting radioactive sources to ensure security under the sponsorship of the Office of Radiation Security, the US National Nuclear Security Administration (ORS/ NNSA).

Attending the handover ceremony, there were Mrs. Holly Lindquist Thomas, Head of the Department of Energy, Health, Science, Technology and Environment, US Embassy in Hanoi; Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khai, Director of the Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety; Mr. Tran Xuan Hoang, Representative of Ngan Luc Investment and Development Company (NIAD) and other relevant officials. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic situation, ORS/NNSA experts attended this handover ceremony through an online connection.
Speaking at the vehicle handover ceremony, Director General Nguyen Tuan Khai expressed his gratitude to ORS/NNSA for its support to the Department in the field of nuclear security and especially support for the Department of specialized transport vehicles of radioactive source. This support has a very practical meaning in ensuring the security of the transportation of radioactive sources, contributing to strengthening the technical support capacity for the State management of the Department, especially in responding to radiation and nuclear incidents.
The car was upgraded and installed by the US side NAID Company and has been granted a certificate of technical safety and environmental protection for automobile production and installation (issued by the Vietnam Register).
