Tightening the sustainable cooperation relationship between Vietnam - India standardization agency
In order to tighten the sustainable cooperation relationship between the standardization agency representing Vietnam and India, the Deputy Director Mr. Ha Minh Hiep and representatives of relevant units of the Directorate of Standards, Measurements and Quality had an online bilateral meeting with Mr. Pramod Kumar Tiwari - Director of Bureau of Indian Standards - BIS and his associates.
Deputy Director Mr. Ha Minh Hiep and representatives of relevant units of the Directorate of Standards, Metrology and Quality attended the meeting.
With the consent of the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, on September 3, 2016, the Directorate of Standards, Metrology and Quality signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the India Directorate of Standardization (BIS) in the field of standardization and conformity assessment. Thence, the above MoU has established the basis for the implementation of cooperation activities between the two agencies in the field of standardization and conformity assessment through the exchange of expertise, science and technology information, training helps strengthen capacity and contributes to trade facilitation between the two countries.
At the meeting, the representative of Vietnam, Mr. Ha Minh Hiep, thanked BIS for its contributions in cooperation, training and experience sharing activities with Vietnam in recent years.
Mr. Ha Minh Hiep also shared about the main orientations of the Directorate of Standards, Measurements and Quality to 2025, such as the plan to develop the National Standardization Strategy, review and amend the Law on Standards and Technical Regulations and wish to receive supported by BIS to strengthen Vietnam's role in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Mr. Pramod Kumar Tiwari, Director of the Bureau of Indian Standards, welcomed the contributions of Vietnam, and shared that sustainable development, the current strategy of standardization and data management are the key topics of BIS to be able to compete, not to lag behind with developed countries.
Through the exchange, the two sides agreed in the near future to jointly organize a workshop to share experiences on standardization conformity assessment in data management, orientation and India's experience on this issue.
