The role of science and technology in digital transformation in agriculture
With the success of the 4th industrial revolution, digital transformation is now an inevitable trend, a matter of survival for countries, organizations, businesses and consumers around the world. Huge changes in labor productivity, user experiences and new business models are being formed, showing the great role and impact in today's social life of digital transformation to every industries, such as industry, commerce, healthcare, traffic, tourism, business services and etc.
Similar to many other economic sectors, agriculture is not outside the circle of digital transformation. In Vietnam, the core value of digital transformation in agriculture today is to bring breakthrough technology solutions based on digital technology to producers in order to create products of higher value, more efficiently.
Digital transformation in agriculture is determined to create an environment and an agricultural digital ecosystem as the foundation, create institutions, and promote the transformation from "Agricultural production" to "Agricultural economy"; develop high-tech agriculture in the direction of focusing on smart agriculture and precision agriculture, increasing the proportion of digital agriculture in the economy.
Along with that, the application of modern technologies in agricultural farming such as IoT and field sensors, machine learning and analytics, farming and robotics, crop monitoring drones, etc. have contributed to increasing agricultural productivity. In addition, the application of information technology in agriculture has been promoted, such as forming a system of databases, statistical information, analysis and forecasting, helping the management of the industry to become more and more complete and improve quality.
The digital transformation and application of digital technology in agricultural production have been making an important contribution to changing production methods, freeing labor, reducing costs, improving productivity and product quality. Applying science and technology to promote digital transformation in agriculture plays an important role in creating an agricultural digital environment and ecosystem, contributing to the country's socio-economic development.
With that trend, the Workshop "Science, technology and innovation to promote digital transformation in agriculture" will be held in Can Tho City on June 24.
