Promoting innovation cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and New Zealand

Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai highly appreciated the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and New Zealand, and hoped that in his new position, Mr. Joseph Nelson would continue to promote and deepen the cooperation relationship between two countries.
Talking about the organization of an innovation workshop for start-up businesses organized by New Zealand in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City in October, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Phan Van Mai said. This is an opportunity for the two sides to exchange innovative ideas, strengthen cooperation in one of the areas that Ho Chi Minh City is very interested in developing, aiming to become an innovation center of Vietnam and the region; Therefore, it is very desirable to have a closer cooperation with New Zealand to build an innovation ecosystem and support calling for investment capital in this area.
Also in October 2022, New Zealand's education agency will organize an education fair that can help students in Ho Chi Minh City access the best educational institutions in New Zealand.
Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai affirmed: Ho Chi Minh City will make a full contribution to the goal of raising two-way bilateral trade to NZD 2 billion by 2025, and suggested the two sides cooperate in building and developing a smart city. Ho Chi Minh City wants to learn from New Zealand's experiences in building a smart city, as well as calling for investment in smart solutions, applying high technology in operating and solving existing problems in the city, such as traffic, flooding.
Mr. Joseph Nelson said: Having recognized the cooperation proposals of the Ho Chi Minh City government in areas of mutual interest for development.
