Application of biotechnology in pharmaceutical chemistry
On April 10, 2023, Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology held a workshop on "Application of biotechnology in pharmaceutical chemistry".
Overview of the workshop
The workshop was honored to welcome researchers from Picardie Jules Verne University - France, representatives of leaders of departments, branches, institutes, and a large number of media agencies to attend and report.
Dr. Ngo Anh Tin - Director of Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology. Can Tho gave the opening speech of the workshop
The objective of the workshop is to publish research results in the field of biotechnology application in pharmaceutical chemistry to develop products from medicinal herbs and drugs of biological origin for health care and life.
Prof. Nathalie Jullian-Pawl – Dean of the Department of Bioengineering IUT Amiens, University of Picardie Jules Verne – France presented at the workshop
The workshop consisted of the following main contents: it started with the presentation "Plants and secondary metabolites of pharmaceutical interest: Biochemical exploration and elucidation of biosynthetic pathways (examples of Linum and Isatis)", presented by Prof. Nathalie Jullian-Pawl – Dean of IUT Amiens Department of Bioengineering, University of Picardie Jules Verne – France; Next is the second presentation: “Hairy roots: Investigative tools for understanding plant metabolism and/or biotechnological methods for producing valuable molecules (examples of Vitis and Nauclea)”, presented by Prof. Emesrite Michèle Boitel-Conti of the Laboratory of Biological and Field Evolution - Department of Bioengineering, University of Picardie Jules Verne - France; The last content is: “Relationships between endophytic bacteria and medicinal plants on bioactive compounds production”, presented by Dr. Nguyen Huu Thanh - Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, An Giang University - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
Prof. Emesrite Michèle Boitel-Conti from the Department of Bioengineering, University of Picardie Jules Verne - France presented at the workshop
The workshop was held successfully, contributing to improving knowledge and skills for scientists, students and managers in this field. It opens up opportunities for exchange and cooperation between domestic and international researchers, especially experts from Picardie Jules Verne University - France.
The presentations at the workshop came up with the latest and potential research results on the application of biotechnology in pharmaceutical chemistry, contributing to the development of the pharmaceutical industry and the production of medicines with safe and effective biosources.
The results brought from the Workshop will be the premise for further research directions and challenges to be solved to maximize the potential of biotechnology in this field. The workshop ended with a lively discussion between the participants and the speakers.
