Nghiên cứu khả năng cảm ứng và sinh trưởng, phát triển của cây ngưu tất dưới tác dụng của tia gamma nguồn CO60.
Nghiên cứu do tác giả Trịnh Văn Vượng, Nhữ Thu Nga, Nguyễn Văn Khiêm, Trần Văn Thắng, Nguyễn Quang Tin và Nguyễn Văn Tâm đang công tác tại Viện Dược liệu, Vụ Khoa học Công nghệ và Môi trường, Bộ Nông nghiệp và PTNT thực hiện.

Tia gamma là một bức xạ phóng xạ có tác động rất mạnh đến cơ thể sinh vật. Những tổn thương gây ra bởi tia gamma có thể làm sinh vật tử vong hoặc làm xuất hiện những biến dị hay đột biến ở sinh vật. Trong những biến dị hay đột biến xuất hiện có thể có một số mang lại lợi ích cho con người như: tạo ra vật liệu cho chọn tạo giống, cải thiện tính trạng ở cây trồng, trong đó có cây dược liệu.

Ngưu tất là một trong các cây thuốc đầu vị, sử dụng nhiều trong y học cổ truyền cũng như hiện đại. Nghiên cứu này trình bày khả năng cảm ứng và sinh trưởng, phát triển của cây ngưu tất khi được chiếu tia gamma. Kết quả cho thấy, tỷ lệ nảy mầm, tỷ lệ biến dị và đặc điểm của cây ngưu tất chịu sự tác động của tia gamma. Liều chiếu xạ tới hạn được xác điịnh trong thực nghiệm là khoản 11 đến 12 krad. Các đặc điểm có lợi trong chọn giống như chiều dài củ, đường kính củ, khối lượng củ xuất hiện nhiều ở liều chiếu từ 7-15 krad. Kết quả nghiên cứu là cơ sở chọn lọc các dòng ngưu tất đột biến có tiềm năng.
