Nọc độc của nhện có tác dụng giảm đau mà không gây tác dụng phụ
Các phân tử có trong nọc độc của nhện tarantula có thể được sử dụng như là một thay thế cho thuốc giảm đau opioid cho những người bị đau mãn tính.

Các nhà nghiên cứu của Đại học Queensland đã đưa ra một loại protein tarantula nọc độc của nhện mới có khả năng giảm đau nặng mà không gây nghiện.

Tiến sĩ Christina Schroeder từ Viện Khoa học Sinh học Phân tử UQ cho biết cuộc khủng hoảng thuốc giảm đau opioid hiện nay trên khắp thế giới có thể thay thế cho các loại thuốc giống morphin  như fentanyl và oxycodone, là rất cần thiết.

Bác sĩ Schroeder cho biết, mặc dù thuốc giảm đau opioids có hiệu quả trong việc giảm đau, nhưng nó có tác dụng phụ không mong muốn như gây buồn nôn, táo bón và nguy cơ gây nghiện, gây gánh nặng lớn cho xã hội.

Nghiên cứu cho thấy một loại protein nhỏ có trong nọc độc tarantula từ nhện chim Trung Quốc, được gọi là Huwentoxin-IV, liên kết với các thụ thể đau trong cơ thể.

Điều này đảm bảo rằng một lượng vừa đủ của protein nhỏ sẽ tự gắn vào thụ thể và màng tế bào bao quanh các thụ thể đau.

Tiến sĩ Schroeder cho biết protein nhỏ đã được thử nghiệm trên mô hình chuột và cho thấy hiệu quả.

Những phát hiện có khả năng có thể đưa ra một phương pháp khác để điều trị cơn đau mà không có tác dụng phụ và làm giảm bệnh nhân sử dụng thuốc giảm đau opioids.
