Ruột người chứa hơn 140.000 loại virus
Trong nghiên cứu được công bố trên tạp chí Cell vào tháng 2/2021, các nhà nghiên cứu tại Viện Sanger Wellcome (Anh) và Phòng Thí nghiệm Sinh học Phân tử châu Âu tiến hành phân tích hơn 28.000 mẫu vi sinh vật đường ruột của con người được thu thập từ 28 quốc gia khác nhau trên thế giới.

Các mẫu vi sinh vật được lấy từ những người khỏe mạnh, không mắc bất kỳ bệnh cụ thể nào.

Nhóm nghiên cứu phát hiện tổng cộng 142.809 loài virus cư trú trong ruột người, hơn một nửa trong số đó chưa từng được biết đến trước đây. Họ đã xây dựng một danh mục virus đường ruột mới gọi là Cơ sở dữ liệu Gut Phage (GPD).

Việc phát hiện thêm hàng nghìn loài virus mới trong ruột nghe có vẻ đáng sợ, nhưng các nhà nghiên cứu nói rằng đó là điều bình thường và chúng ta không nên lo lắng.

“Điều quan trọng cần lưu ý là không phải tất cả các virus đều có hại. Chúng đại diện cho một phần không thể thiếu của hệ sinh thái đường ruột”, Alexandre Almeida, thành viên của nhóm nghiên cứu tại Phòng Thí nghiệm Sinh học Phân tử châu Âu, cho biết.
