Dịch COVID-19: Thiếu vitamin D có thể khiến bệnh thêm nặng
Các nhà khoa học đã nghiên cứu 1.176 bệnh nhân COVID-19 nhập viện trong giai đoạn từ tháng 4/2020 đến tháng 2/2021, trong đó 253 người có hàm lượng vitamin D dưới mức trung bình trong cơ thể.

Theo phóng viên TTXVN tại Tel Aviv, một nghiên cứu mới công bố của trường Đại học Bar Ilan (Israel) cho thấy các bệnh nhân COVID-19 thiếu vitamin D trong cơ thể có nguy cơ bị biến chứng nặng cao hơn người bình thường.

Các nhà khoa học đã nghiên cứu 1.176 bệnh nhân COVID-19 nhập viện trong giai đoạn từ tháng 4/2020 đến tháng 2/2021, trong đó 253 người có hàm lượng vitamin D dưới mức trung bình trong cơ thể.

Những người này đều được đo hàm lượng vitamin D tối thiểu 14 ngày và tối đa là 730 ngày trước khi có kết quả xét nghiệm dương tính với virus SARS-CoV-2. Quá trình điều trị cho thấy họ dễ bị các biến chứng nghiêm trọng, thậm chí nguy hiểm tính mạng, cao hơn những người khác.

Trước đây, đã có những nghiên cứu tìm hiểu mối liên hệ giữa việc thiếu vitamin D và bệnh COVID-19, nhưng hầu hết chỉ có dữ liệu sau khi bệnh nhân đã nhiễm virus SARS-CoV-2, đồng nghĩa với việc khó có thể đi đến kết luận chính xác.

Trưởng nhóm nghiên cứu của Đại học Bar Ilan, Tiến sĩ Amiel Dror cho biết: “Vitamin D thường liên quan đến sức khỏe của xương. Chúng tôi đã phát hiện có thể nó còn đóng vai trò quan trọng trong những bệnh khác, ví dụ bệnh truyền nhiễm.”

Tuy nhiên, nhóm tác giả nhấn mạnh nghiên cứu này không nhất thiết dẫn đến kết luận rằng bổ sung vitamin D sẽ giúp bệnh nhân COVID-19 giảm bớt được các triệu chứng nặng hoặc nguy cơ tử vong./.
