About 70% of small and medium enterprises in Vietnam are still hesitant about digital transformation - partly because of capital difficulties, partly because they see this as the story of large enterprises.

In the context that businesses in general and manufacturing enterprises in particular are significantly affected by the pandemic, there are businesses that have focused on promoting the exploitation of advantages from digital transformation.
However, there are small and medium-sized enterprises that are still passively reacting to market changes, thinking the old-fashioned way - said Le Van Khuong, Director of the Northern Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center, Ministry of Planning and Investment, said the online workshop "Practical solutions to support digital transformation for manufacturing enterprises" organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with Microsoft on August 27. This number in Vietnam is more than 70%, according to a report by the Cisco American technology system group, which Mr. Khuong cited.
A survey by the Vietnam Software and Information Technology Services Association (VINASA) on 500 businesses in 2020 also shows that only about 15% of businesses carry out digital transformation. Small and medium enterprises have not participated much in this process, partly because they have difficulty in capital, but also because they see this as the story of large enterprises.
Before that situation, Mr. Khuong said, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has implemented the Program to support businesses in digital transformation for the period of 2021 - 2025, according to which the efficiency of production and business as well as capacity and the competitive advantage of enterprises is enhanced through the integration and application of digital technology.
“The goal is that by 2025, 100% of businesses will have increased awareness of digital transformation; at least 100,000 businesses receive support from the Program; The 100 supported businesses are typical successes in digital transformation, targeting manufacturing and processing enterprises and establishing an expert network of at least 100 consulting organizations and individuals to promote digital transformation,” he said.
