Focus on open science for fast and sustainable development

At the conference "Open Science - UNESCO Recommendations: Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnam" on October 20, Deputy Minister Bui The Duy said that open science will help us "go further and be more sustainable in the future" in solving global problems.”

Or another example that everyone in the field of artificial intelligence can see, is that without data sharing or AI processing tools, the field cannot grow at a rapid rate like that in recent times.
At the workshop, many issues related to open science, such as open access, the right to use open resources were also discussed.
Expert Le Trung Nghia (Advisory Board for Open Education Development, Association of Vietnam Universities and Colleges) said that one of the challenges facing open science in Vietnam today lies in the legal issue. "If the state doesn't have an open licensing policy, there can be no open resources," he said.
For example, research projects funded by the state should be licensed open, and at the same time clarify the rights of users to these results to what extent, avoiding the risk of being sued.
Or for documents and works in the public domain, when digitizing, its digital version must also be in the public domain and cannot be owned by an individual or organization.
In the context that the world is moving towards UNESCO's Open Science Recommendations, Deputy Minister Bui The Duy suggested that it is necessary to continue organizing discussions with experts on issues that are still entangled in recent times such as quality assessment of open-access journals; copyright advice, intellectual property law; as well as the readiness of Vietnamese organizations and researchers for open science.
