The research results are most applied in the field of agriculture
In 2021, Science and technology (S&T) tasks will cover all fields, in which agriculture is the field with the highest number of applied research results with many high-tech application models or drought- salty plant varieties, high-quality productive livestock.

On March 17, the Ministry of Science and Technology coordinated with the People's Committee of Bac Giang province to organize the National Conference of Directors of the Department of Science and Technology in 2022. “Despite being heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, S&T activities and innovation in Vietnam will be held in localities in the past year still achieved many important results," said Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat at the conference.

Last year, the Ministry of Science and Technology supported 311 S&T tasks at national level (including 179 transitional tasks from previous years and 130 new ones); localities implemented 2104 provincial science and technology tasks (including 597 transitional tasks). S&T tasks cover the following fields: agricultural science; science, engineering and technology; natural Sciences; social sciences and humanities; medical and pharmaceutical science. In which, agriculture is the field with the highest number of applied research results with many high-tech application models or crop varieties that are resistant to drought and salt, and high-quality productive livestock.

In general, "the tasks have helped localities solve big problems and challenges posed in reality, such as focusing on developing key local products, improving technology levels for businesses, etc. small and medium-sized enterprises, applying technology in natural disaster prevention,...", according to the summary report at the workshop.

To promote the application and transfer of results, localities organize many promotion activities, such as technology introduction program in Hai Phong, supply-demand matching sessions and exhibitions in Nam Dinh, opening Technology trading floor in Bac Giang,... Despite being affected by the epidemic, with the efforts of localities, online supply and demand connection activities are still highly effective. Typically in Ho Chi Minh City, “Through two online Techmart sessions, more than 300 technologies and equipment were displayed, attracting nearly 6,000 visitors with more than 25,000 visits. The spillover effect of online Techmart is 10 times higher than that of traditional Techmart, and consulting seminars, connecting supply and demand are 20 times more effective than face-to-face seminars, "according to the report.

Although many positive results have been achieved, the report clearly states, “S&T activities are still scattered, fragmented, and have not yet made major breakthroughs; not yet linked between institutes and enterprises; there are not many science and technology tasks with linkages among localities in the region; enterprises are not really central, playing a decisive role in S&T activities and innovation.”

Many expect that the upcoming policies will help solve these problems. This is also one of the contents that Minister Huynh Thanh Dat emphasized that localities need to pay attention in the coming year: "Currently, the Strategy for S&T development and innovation up to 2030 is being considered by the Government and will be promulgated soon, it is suggested that localities organize the implementation in 2022 with specific plans and projects.
