Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat attended the opening ceremony and discussed at a high-level seminar on the role of science in policy making with the Ministers of Science and Technology of China, Cuba, South Africa, Nigeria, Honduras and two scientists won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2012 and 2021.
Sharing about lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic leading to a change in the relationship between science and policy making, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat emphasized the importance of renewing S&T management thinking, encouraging experimentation, risk-taking and failure, and promoting the spirit of open science and open innovation.
He also proposed the formation of platforms for sharing patent information, data, scientific publications and research facilities to help less developed countries access and keep up with the development trend of world science and technology.
The Minister emphasized the issue of choosing priorities and balancing economic growth with ensuring safety and security for the people, in which, it is necessary to put people at the center of all development policies.
On the same day, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat had a meeting with the French Minister of Higher Education and Research and attended the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam and France on cooperation in innovation and technology transfer for small and medium enterprises of the two countries.
