Ta Quang Buu Prize is an award of the Ministry of Science and Technology, held every three years to encourage and honor scientists with excellent basic research results, contributing to promoting Vietnam's science and technology integration and development.
The Ministry of Science and Technology is drafting a Circular amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular No. 01/2015/TT-BKHCN dated January 12, 2015 on promulgating the Ta Quang Buu Award Regulation. According to the draft, the Prize is considered within the scope of basic research in 2 groups of fields:
1) Natural Science, Engineering Science and Technology, Medical Science, Pharmacy and Agricultural Science; (2) Social Sciences, Humanities. Thus, compared with Circular No.01/2015/TT-BKHCN draft proposal to expand the field of award consideration, supplement the field of Social Sciences and Humanities.
In addition, the draft also proposes to amend the award structure. Specifically, up to 3 main prizes (previously 1 - 3) for each field group; maximum 2 Prizes (previously 1) for young scientists (under 35 years old) for each of the above-mentioned field groups.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the change of the award structure in the direction of increasing the award for young scientists is to encourage young scientists to be passionate about basic research. In addition, in order for the Prize to be widespread, aiming to encourage scientists and promote Vietnamese science to develop and integrate, the draft proposes not to award the main prize of the Ta Quang Buu Prize to 1 scientist more than once.
