Promulgating National Technical Regulations on waste containing radionuclides of natural origin
Recently, the Ministry of Science and Technology has issued the National Technical Regulation on waste containing radionuclides of natural origin QCVN 23:2023/BKHCN.

Accordingly, QCVN 23:2023/BKHCN compiled and approved by the Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety, appraised by the Directorate of Standards, Metrology and Quality, and promulgated by the Minister of Science and Technology together with Circular No. 08/2023/TT-BKHCN May 25, 2023.
QCVN 23:2023/BKHCN stipulates requirements on ensuring radiation safety and technical requirements for waste management activities containing radioactive nuclides of natural origin (hereinafter referred to as NORM waste) arising from mining and processing of uranium ore, thorium ore, rare earth, titanium placer and industries related to mining and processing titanium placer. The list of NORM wastes is stated in Appendix A of this Technical Regulation.
QCVN 23:2023/BKHCN applies to domestic and foreign organizations and individuals that have activities generating NORM waste in the territory of Vietnam; Organizations and individuals engaged in the collection, treatment, transportation and storage of NORM waste that are not waste source owners and state management agencies and other relevant organizations and individuals.
