Vietnam - Italy cooperation in technology and application of synthetic aperture radar
On June 6, 2023 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Space Center (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Vietnam and the Italian Association of Aerospace Technology held a workshop: "Vietnam - Italy cooperation in technology and application of synthetic aperture radar".

The workshop attracted the participation of many delegates from ministries/sectors, such as Science and Technology, Natural Resources and Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development; scientists from research institutes, universities and etc. of Vietnam and Italy. This is the 2nd cooperation event between the Vietnam Space Center and the Italian Embassy after the success of the exhibition: "Vietnam - Italy space technology and applications: Looking beyond" held in October 2022.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Anh Tuan - General Director of Vietnam Space Center said that the Strategy for development and application of space science and technology to 2030 has been approved by the Government of Vietnam in 2021 with the goal of using and applying space technology to manage, monitor and support natural resources and the environment in order to reduce damage caused by natural disasters.
Currently, the Center is implementing the Vietnam Space Center Project in Hoa Lac and is expected to launch LOTUSat-1 - Vietnam's first radar satellite in 2024. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Anh Tuan said that Italia is one of the countries with leading experts in the field of space technology. Therefore, cooperation with Italy, especially in the field of space technology, will be a great opportunity to promote the development of space technology and applications in Vietnam.
At the workshop, the delegates shared about the current situation of space technology research and application in Vietnam; capacity and experiences of Italian companies on space technology projects as well as future plans. The workshop is an opportunity for experts and scientists of the two countries to meet and share information can cooperate for projects in the field of space technology and applications of space technology in the near future.
