Sharing experiences in developing rooftop solar power
On June 14, 2023, in Hanoi, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and German Development Cooperation (GIZ) jointly organized an international experience sharing workshop on rooftop solar power development according to the mechanism of self-production, self-consumption, not sold on the grid.

EVN Deputy General Director Vo Quang Lam said that in the National Electricity Development Plan for the period of 2021-2030 and a vision to 2050 (Electricity Master Plan VIII) approved by the Prime Minister, the target is set by 2020. By 2030, the whole country will have 50% of office buildings and 50% of residential houses using self-sufficient and self-consuming rooftop solar power (for on-site consumption, not selling electricity into the national electricity system). In the context that the power system is facing difficulties in supply, especially in the northern provinces/cities, it is essential to continue developing renewable energy sources, including rooftop solar energy. EVN has also made recommendations to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Prime Minister on continuing to issue a mechanism to encourage the development of rooftop solar power without generating electricity on the grid.
At the workshop, the delegates actively exchanged and discussed in-depth discussions on issues, such as German rooftop solar power development lessons, experiences in calculating rooftop solar power price brackets, and policies developing self-sufficient rooftop solar power, GIZ's recommendations for Vietnam when developing rooftop solar power and etc.
