Technical aspects of offshore wind power development
Grid connection, management, operation and technical aspects in the development of offshore wind power projects were the subject of a workshop organized by the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), the Task Force on offshore wind power of the Vietnam Energy Partnership Group (VEPG) and the German Development Cooperation Organization (GIZ) jointly held this day in Hanoi.

At the workshop, the delegates had lively discussions on such topics as: EVN's view on offshore wind power development, Denmark's experiences in grid connection for offshore wind power, Hybrid offshore grids, offshore wind power planning and technical aspects for development.
Mr. Nguyen Tai Anh - Deputy General Director of EVN said that, facing the requirements of ensuring energy security in parallel with sustainable economic development, the electricity industry is facing many challenges to ensure adequate supply electricity, quality and at a reasonable cost. Along with the process of modernizing processes and technologies to create energy sources, the development of renewable energy sources, including offshore wind power, is receiving the attention of many managers, scientists. With the goal of putting 7 GW of offshore wind power into operation by 2030, Vietnam needs to have an active preparation process with appropriate policies to shorten the implementation time of offshore wind power projects. However, this field is still new, so it is necessary to adjust the policy framework and technical regulations in order to successfully realize the set goals.
