Workshop on "The current situation and solutions to develop the co-management model in the protection of aquatic resources"
This morning, the Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with the Provincial Fisheries Association held a seminar on "The current situation and solutions to develop the co-management model in the protection of aquatic resources."

Attending the seminar, there were representatives of specialized departments, specialized management agencies, professional associations; specialized departments under the People's Committees of districts, towns, cities and communes; a number of intellectual members in the field of fisheries, members of the Fisheries Association, some fishermen and media agencies attended and reported. Mr. Luong Thanh Son - Chairman of Union of Science and Technology Associations and Mr. Huynh Quang Huy - Chairman of Provincial Fisheries Association presided the workshop.
The workshop introduced a number of models with the participation of the co-management fishing community (Fishers Community Association) implemented in the province such as the model of feather cockle, octopus, snail, etc. protect coral reef ecosystems. The report shows that the co-management model has contributed to improving the efficiency of State management of fisheries; Protection, conservation and development of aquatic resources in the region; Stabilize livelihoods, increase income for fishermen; Help promote the spirit of solidarity in the fishing community in the sea; Sharing experiences on implementing co-management in aquatic resource protection.
In addition, the workshop clarified some existing difficulties of the co-management model such as the assignment of powers to co-manage the water surface, operating costs, the participation of fishermen in the model, the situation of violations of the law in co-managed waters and marine environment; mentioned some experiences in implementing the model of co-management and protection of aquatic resources; introduce a number of legal provisions and guidelines on co-management in the protection of aquatic resources; a number of regulations on sea areas assigned to units and organizations in the co-management of aquaculture; develop policies to support the implementation of co-management in the protection of aquatic resources.
