Develop national measurement standards, improve measurement efficiency
On April 5, the Vietnam Institute of Metrology and the Drectorate of Standards, Metrology and Quality organized a workshop on "Developing national measurement standards and coordinating to improve the efficiency of measurement activities."

Overview of the workshop
Attending the workshop, there were Mr. Ha Minh Hiep - Acting General Director of the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality, Mr. Tran Quy Giau - Director of the Department of Metrology; Mrs. Ngo Thi Ngoc Ha - Director of the Vietnam Institute of Metrology and representatives of organizations and businesses.

Speaking at the Workshop, Mr. Ha Minh Hiep - Acting General Director said that the Directorate always considers measurement as a standard activity and tries to do the best within its capabilities, resources, people, and conditions. In the past two years, measurement activities have had improvements, such as editing a set of 25 books on measurements, coordinating with the of Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and units to organize inter-departmental comparison programs, development of national measurement standards, and etc.

At the workshop, Mr. Tran Quy Giau - Director of the Department of Metrology gave a speech related to the plan to implement the "Plan to develop national measurement standards until 2030" according to Decision No. 1488/QD- TTg of the Prime Minister.
According to Mr. Giau, the general goal of the first plan is to be modern and reach an advanced level in the region; The second is to meet state management requirements on measurement in the new period; Third is to promote international economic integration, support businesses to improve the quality of household products to serve the domestic and export markets; Fourth is to contribute to promoting and developing socio-economics and ensuring national defense and security of the country.
