Currently, economic development coupled with environmental protection is always an issue of special concern to society. ISO 14000 is a set of standards for Environmental Management Systems (Environmental Management System) developed and issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to provide standards for identifying, controlling and monitoring the effects of organizations and businesses to the environment. In particular, ISO 14001 standard belongs to the ISO 14000 series of standards, first issued in 1996, second in 2004, third in 2015.
In Vietnam, on December 31, 2015, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the national standard TCVN ISO 14001:2015. This TCVN is accepted and completely equivalent to the international standard ISO 14001:2015. This is the latest version and organizations, individuals, and businesses are encouraged to apply to replace old versions.
ISO 14001 standard is suitable for all organizations and businesses, regardless of size and type. ISO 14001 carries a "mission" to help businesses improve environmental performance through efficient use of resources, increase revenue, and reduce waste.
