Vietnam needs to soon accelerate the green energy transition to avoid unnecessary large costs as well as fulfill its commitment to net zero emissions by 2050.

Nền kinh tế Việt Nam tăng trưởng mạnh mẽ trong những năm gần đây kéo theo mức tiêu thụ năng lượng và lượng khí thải carbon tăng đáng kể. Là một trong những nền kinh tế phát triển nhất Đông Nam Á, để đảm bảo phát triển bền vững, Việt Nam cần tách biệt kinh tế với tiêu thụ năng lượng, đồng thời xây dựng hệ thống năng lượng xanh hơn, bền vững hơn thông qua năng lượng tái tạo và công nghệ tiết kiệm năng lượng.

Báo cáo Triển vọng Năng lượng Việt Nam - Đường tới mức phát thải ròng bằng 0 (EOR-NZ) cho thấy mục tiêu trung hòa carbon vào năm 2050 không chỉ khả thi về mặt kỹ thuật mà còn là kịch bản hiệu quả nhất về mặt chi phí.

Tuy nhiên, để đạt được mục tiêu này, lượng khí thải của Việt Nam cần đạt đỉnh vào năm 2030 và quá trình chuyển đổi năng lượng xanh cần phải nhanh hơn trước.

Theo Đại sứ Đan Mạch Nicolai Prytz: “Để đạt được mục tiêu phát thải ròng bằng 0, Việt Nam cần nỗ lực nhanh chóng, mạnh mẽ và bền vững. Điều này không chỉ quan trọng trong việc giải quyết nhu cầu năng lượng ngày càng tăng mà còn giúp thu hút đầu tư trực tiếp nước ngoài (FDI) khi việc tiếp cận năng lượng tái tạo ngày càng trở nên quan trọng trong các quyết định đầu tư. Đan Mạch cam kết tiếp tục hỗ trợ Việt Nam trong quá trình chuyển đổi này.”

Nguyen Tat Thanh University was an implementing agency; Science and Technology Advances Application Center, Vietnam - Korea Industrial Technology Incubator were coordinating units.
