National standard TCVN 13999:2024 on irrigation works
Irrigation works, such as dams, reservoirs, sluices or pumping stations play an important role in the management, operation and maintenance of sluices, which is a key factor in controlling flow and water level, ensuring safety, efficiency and sustainability according to national standard TCVN 13999:2024.

During operation, it is necessary to regularly monitor indicators of flow, water level, flow rate and adjust the gate opening in accordance with the design to promptly handle incidents, such as exceeding hydraulic limits, erosion or technical damage. In particular, for flood season water intake sluices, dam owners need to continuously check, build charts showing the relationship between flow, water level and gate opening, and use a signal system to operate accurately and flexibly according to each situation.
During the sluice opening process, the manager must continuously monitor hydraulic phenomena, such as vibration, roaring, and adjust the opening to maintain a stable flow. When abnormalities exceeding the limit are detected, it is necessary to immediately close or open the sluice appropriately, handle arising problems to ensure the safety of the project and the downstream area. At the same time, periodic inspection and survey work is to detect early signs of damage or problems related to operational safety, request to stop operation and promptly handle incidents to maintain normal operation of the system.
In maintenance work, the top principle is to ensure safety and maintain the function of the equipment, without changing the scale or purpose of the project. The operating units must periodically inspect the entire culvert before and after opening, especially before the rainy season and after or in special situations, such as natural disasters, earthquakes. In addition, monthly periodic maintenance work includes cleaning, lubrication, replacement of worn components and inspection of moving parts, such as pins and structures to keep the system running smoothly, accurately, minimizing the risk of incidents and ensuring maximum safety under all operating conditions.
