Opening a new door in the cooperation between Vietnam and Kazakhstan in developing science and technology, innovation and digital transformation
On May 6, 2025, during the State visit of General Secretary To Lam to Kazakhstan, Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung and Kazakhstan's Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Space Industry Madiyev Zhaslan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the fields of technology, innovation and digital transformation.

This is an important milestone marking the official start of cooperation, laying the foundation for specific programs and projects on e-government, smart cities, ICT industry, aerospace and connecting technology businesses of the two countries in the future.
Previously, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung had bilateral meetings with Kazakhstani ministers in the fields of digital development, innovation, scientific research and education. During the meeting with Minister Madiyev Zhaslan, the two sides shared policies and cooperation orientations, and proposed initiatives, such as co-organizing the ASEAN-Central Asia digital forum, workshops on smart cities, online public services and digital business forums in each country. They also agreed to strengthen research network connectivity, information sharing and joint research cooperation in priority areas.
In particular, the ministers discussed in depth the development of artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on exploiting the opportunities of the AI revolution, such as developing specialized AI, specific applications, popularizing AI and bringing AI into higher education. The two sides pledged to coordinate with relevant agencies to soon establish a Subcommittee on Science and Technology Cooperation, in order to promote effective cooperation activities in the coming time.
