Women in Banking Integrate with Digital Transformation
On March 7, 2025 in Hanoi, the workshop "Women in Banking Integrate with the Digital Transformation Process" organized by the Committee for the Advancement of Women in the Banking Industry in collaboration with the Vietnam Banking Trade Union and Standard Chartered Bank, emphasized the important role of women in the development of the banking industry in the context of digital transformation.

Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Dao Minh Tu, Head of the Committee for the Advancement of Women in the Banking Industry, Chairman of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union delivered the opening speech at the Workshop.
In her opening speech, Ms. Tran Thu Huyen affirmed that the Vietnamese banking industry is proud to be a bright spot in implementing national digital transformation, with the view that digital transformation is a matter of survival, while emphasizing the close coordination of ministries and branches to issue appropriate and appropriate regulations. In that context, the role of female bank staff is very important, contributing to all activities from policy making to social activities, from central to local levels.
The Vietnamese banking industry has achieved many outstanding achievements in digital transformation, being in the top of the digital transformation and administrative reform index, while promoting impressive growth in digital payments in the period of 2016-2024. Electronic payment channels, such as the Internet and mobile phones have continuously grown, with the number of individual customer payment accounts reaching more than 204 million VND, accounting for 87% of the adult population. Mr. Pham Tien Dung emphasized that these achievements reflect the high readiness of the banking industry in digital transformation, both meeting domestic practical requirements and catching up with global trends.
Commercial banks have also made clear changes. Mr. Tran Cong Quynh Lan shared about Vietinbank's strategy, in which 99% of customer transactions are conducted through digital channels, and most banking records and operations are processed in a digital environment. Standard Chartered Bank also promotes digital platforms with initiatives, such as VietQR code scanning, 24/7 payment via virtual accounts, and API expansion to optimize processes, aiming to create an efficient, safe working environment and towards the dedication of women in the banking industry.
