TCVN 9311-1:2024 on fire resistance limits of construction components
Determining the fire resistance limit according to national standard TCVN 9311-1:2024 is an important factor in improving the safety of construction works in case of fire and explosion.

Fire resistance limit shows the ability to maintain the operation of components and structures in fire conditions, thereby classifying according to fire resistance time, helping to determine appropriate fire prevention and fighting requirements for each type of construction or fire compartment. This makes it easy to implement safety measures, and is the first step in designing a suitable and effective fire prevention and fighting system.
TCVN 9311-1:2024 also clearly stipulates the method of fire resistance testing for materials and construction components, requiring that the materials used to make test specimens must represent actual use. The manufacture of test specimens must comply with construction skills standards, ensuring that the structure or joints are not changed during the testing process. The equipment for measuring pressure, deformation and checking the integrity of the test specimen must be arranged reasonably and accurately, without affecting the test results.
During the test, the load will be applied at least 15 minutes before the start, not cause any dynamic effects, and will be maintained continuously throughout the test. The deformations of the specimen will be accurately measured, and if there is a significant deformation, the load will be maintained until the phenomena have stabilized. When the test is completed or the specimen is not damaged, the loading system will be adjusted accordingly; the results will be based on the time the specimen is capable of maintaining the properties, in which the integrity and insulation criteria will be met if the bearing capacity is also satisfied. In all cases, the progress and reasons for the termination of the test will be clearly stated in the report to ensure the objectivity and accuracy of the evaluation results.
