Premises for building smart cities
Around the world, especially in Vietnam, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming a key factor in building smart and modern cities. In Ho Chi Minh City, the Smart City Asia 2025 event with nearly 450 stores and 300 units displaying innovative solutions in education, urban management, security and building construction has connected policies, technology and investment sources.

The event creates opportunities for comprehensive cooperation between localities, domestic and international enterprises, promoting sustainable and smart urban development.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuc, Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo (dated December 22, 2024) sets the goal of completing the construction of smart cities for qualified central and local cities by 2030. To achieve this goal, localities need to focus on developing appropriate digital infrastructure, building an ecosystem that focuses on people and businesses, and improving smart urban governance. Ho Chi Minh City has implemented many projects on transportation, e-government, and digital ecosystems, aiming to utilize technologies, such as AI, IoT, and big data to improve living standards, develop the digital economy, and digital society.
In this process, digital infrastructure plays a role as a foundation to promote innovation, competitiveness and sustainable development. Investing in and modernizing digital infrastructure is a prerequisite for building an efficient and synchronous urban area. In digital transformation, ensuring flexibility, accessibility and data security for public services, businesses and people is the key to improving the quality of life, contributing to building a smart and sustainable city in the digital age.
