Quang Ngai: Developing new rice varieties along the value chain
Since 2017, the Quang Ngai Seed Center has successfully created three new rice varieties, QNg6, QNg13, and QNg128, with high yield (65–75 quintals/ha), short growth period (85–115 days) and delicious rice quality, suitable for the market.

These varieties were recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development at the end of 2020 and widely distributed in the South Central Coast and Central Highlands, helping to increase farmers' income and develop local rice areas.
To put new varieties into mass production, Quang Ngai has implemented a value chain linkage project, coordinating selection, production, cultivation and consumption. The Seed Center has developed a seed production process that ensures national standards, from super original G1, G2 to certified varieties. After 36 months, more than 6,500 kg of G1, 6,400 kg of G2 and nearly 16,300 kg of by-products have been produced, improving productivity and farmers' profits, with an increase of nearly 24% compared to traditional methods.
The program has supported people participating in the model with 100% super-original seeds, 30% materials and techniques, and at the same time purchased products at the field, helping to save costs and ensure stable output. The model can be expanded to mountainous areas, such as Ba To, Son Ha, Minh Long, contributing to spreading the effectiveness of new rice varieties, promoting sustainable development and increasing income for farmers in the province.
