Selection of science and technology project "Evaluation of intervention results and improvement of the quality of screening, diagnosis and intervention model for children with autism spectrum disorder in Can Tho city"
In the afternoon of May 9, 2025, Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology held a meeting of the Selection Council for organizations and individuals to preside over the scientific and technological project "Evaluating intervention results and improving the quality of screening, diagnosis and intervention models for children with autism spectrum disorders in Can Tho City." The project will be implemented by Can Tho Children's Hospital, which is a main implimentation unit of the study.


Overview of the meeting
Attending the meeting, there were Ms. Tran Hoai Phuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology and members of the Council including scientists, experts in the fields of health, special education, and related units. At the meeting, the research team clearly presented the reasons for choosing the project, objectives, research contents, approach and expected products, in order to meet the urgent needs of society in supporting autistic children in the locality.
The main objectives of the project include developing human resources to maintain and improve the quality of screening, diagnosis and intervention models for children with autism in Can Tho; evaluating intervention results for children with autism spectrum disorders aged 18-36 months; analyzing barriers to accessing diagnostic and intervention services for families with children in this age group; and improving the quality of these models to ensure effectiveness and sustainability.

Council’s members
The Council highly appreciated the urgency and practical significance of the project, especially in the context of the increasing rate of autistic children and the need for early intervention receiving increasing attention from the community. At the same time, the members of the Council also requested many professional opinions to complete the research contents, while ensuring feasibility and effectiveness when the project is implemented.

Research team
Finally, the project is expected to contribute to promoting the development of screening, diagnosis and early intervention models for autistic children in Can Tho, contributing to improving the quality of care and supporting the comprehensive development of autistic children in the community. In addition, the research also creates a scientific basis for proposing appropriate policies, improving the effectiveness of support services, helping families with autistic children access services more easily, thereby contributing to improving the quality of life for children and the community.
