Consider directly assigning the project "Research on human immune response after vaccination against COVID-19 in Can Tho City"
On October 8, 2021, Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology established a council to directly assign the project "Research on human immune response after vaccination against COVID-19 in Can Tho City." The study is carried out by Dr. Nguyen Thi Hai Yen. Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy is a presiding agency for implementation.

The objectives of the study are (1) Determination of IgG antibodies against spike protein (S) of SARS-CoV-2 at the time immediately before the first dose vaccination; 2 weeks after the first injection; just before the 2nd injection; 2 weeks after the 2nd dose and 6 months after the 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine; (2) Describe the change in anti-spike protein (S) IgG antibodies of SARS-CoV-2 at the time points immediately before the first dose of vaccine; 2 weeks after the 1st injection; just before the 2nd injection; 2 weeks after the 2nd dose and 6 months after the 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

The project is expected to be carried out in 15 months with specific contents, such as information collection, determination of IgG antibodies against spike protein S of SARS-CoV-2 at different times, blood collection (1,000 samples) , centrifuge, extract frozen serum (negative 20oC), send to Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City to perform an antibody test and determine the neutralizing ability of the anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody by reducing the necrosis factor (PRNT) technique in the serum sample. Describe the change of IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 spike protein S at different stages and compare antibody data in each respective blood draw.

The practical research results of the study will contribute to providing data related to the immune response after vaccination against COVID-19 disease, as a premise for further studies related to the following issues Immunological efficacy, safety, side effects, and contraindications of COVID-19 vaccine. At the same time, providing scientific evidence proving the effectiveness and benefits of vaccination against COVID-19 disease, contributing to the planning of vaccination strategies and propaganda to mobilize people to vaccinate, quickly achieve the goal of creating immunity in the community.
