Considering direct assignment of the Science and Technology project "Research, design, manufacture and test means of collecting and monitoring wastes along the Can Tho city's river"
In the afternoon of October 11, 2021, Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology established an online council to directly consider and assign the project "Research, design, manufacture and test a means of collecting and monitoring wastes in the riverside areas of Can Tho City.” The study is carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Tat Hien. Polytechnic University - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City is a presiding agency for implementation. Estimated implementation time is 24 months.

The objective of the project is to design and perfect solutions for cleaning, monitoring, managing and collecting waste, ensuring environmental sanitation on canals, limiting obstruction to waterway traffic in Can Tho City.
The project will carry out the implementation of the following contents: Survey and assessment of the current environmental status of canals in Can Tho; Research and analyze experimental data on the current status of riverside wastes in the cleaning area, thereby proposing a collection route; Research and evaluate the advantages of waste collection machines; Design and manufacture the body of the waste collection machine along rivers and canals; and etc.
The implemented project will affect the efficiency of agricultural production and aquaculture of the whole country; Impacts on accelerating the industrialization and modernization of the agricultural sector; Promoting other domestic industries to develop together such as mechanical engineering, agriculture, aquaculture; Contributing to improving crop productivity due to proper water supply and drainage according to crop requirements; Increase the speed of waterway traffic in areas with water hyacinth and garbage; Contribute to quick drainage in the rainy season; Helps to clear the water surface environment on canals, reservoirs, the water environment becomes greener and cleaner, etc.
The Council unanimously approved the project. However, the research team needs to edit and add some contents according to the comments of the council members.
