Develop Can Tho city into a tourism service center of the Mekong Delta
In order to select organizations and individuals to implement the city-level social science project "Developing Can Tho city into a tourism service center of the Mekong Delta", Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology had a council meeting in the morning of April 12, 2024. The Council was presided by Dr. Ngo Anh Tin - Director of Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology. The project will be carried by Dr. Le Cao Thanh. The Institute of Strategic Studies - Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade is an implementing unit.
Overview of the meeting
The objective of the project is to evaluate the current status of tourism development in Can Tho city, compared to other provinces in the Mekong Delta; Deploy and evaluate the effectiveness of the pilot tourism development cooperation model "Enterprise - resident community" in Can Tho city; Proposing a model for coordinating and linking tourism development with community participation in the context of the digital economy in Can Tho city; Develop a strategy and system of solutions and implementation plans for tourism development in Can Tho city, associate with the strategic goal of developing Can Tho city to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The content of the project includes: Research on experiences in developing tourism cooperation models; Assess the current status of Can Tho tourism development; Assess the current state of cooperation and competition between businesses and residents in tourism activities; Assess the current state of cooperation and competition among Can Tho and the Mekong Delta provinces; Develop a tourism development strategy for Can Tho city; Propose a system of solutions to implement the strategy; Proposing strategic implementation plans; Building a "Center - Periphery" coordination model in tourism cooperation and linkage; Design and test a "Center - Periphery" model among Can Tho and the Mekong Delta provinces; Design and test a pilot model of enterprise-residential community cooperation; Research and recommend orientations for Can Tho's tourism development policy.
