Đưa vật thể và vật liệu lạ vào cơ thể là vấn đề đầy khó khăn có thể dẫn đến nhiễm trùng nghiêm trọng đôi khi có thể đe dọa đến tính mạng bệnh nhân. Tuy nhiên, vật liệu mới đã được chứng minh là không gây ra vấn đề quan trọng cho cơ thể.

Một nhóm các nhà nghiên cứu từ Đại học Công nghệ Chalmers gần đây đã xuất bản một bài báo trên tạp chí ACS Nano, chi tiết về cấu trúc vật liệu nano giống như tấm mica có cấu trúc giống như xương mang lại kết quả bất ngờ.

Vật liệu này rất mềm, dẻo và cực kỳ đàn hồi, nhưng những tính chất mới và bất ngờ đã khiến khám phá trở nên thú vị, theo đồng tác giả TS. Anand Kumar Rajasekharan.

Nhờ cấu trúc của nó, vật liệu giống như cao su mới có thể được xử lý dễ dàng để có được đặc tính kháng khuẩn bằng cách dán các peptide kháng khuẩn lên bề mặt của nó. Điều này cho phép vật liệu được tiêm an toàn vào cơ thể nơi nó tạo thành các cấu trúc đàn hồi của riêng nó hoặc được in 3D thành nhiều mẫu khác nhau theo yêu cầu.

Hơn nữa, cao su nano do Rajasekharan và các đồng nghiệp của ông tạo ra có chứa các lỗ nano ba chiều có thể được nạp bằng thuốc để điều trị tại chỗ, có thể giúp giảm tác dụng phụ thường liên quan đến thuốc uống và tiêm tĩnh mạch.
