Công nghệ in tế bào 3D giúp nghiên cứu COVID-19
Năm ngoái, một nhóm các kỹ sư của Đại học McMaster Canada đã phát triển cách sử dụng công nghệ in 3D để tạo ra các khối u nhân tạo giúp các nhà nghiên cứu thử nghiệm các loại thuốc và liệu pháp điều trị mới.

Hiện nay, họ đang xem xét việc sử dụng công nghệ đó trong việc tìm ra phương pháp điều trị cho những người mắc COVID-19.

Bệnh do virus corona mới tiếp tục lan rộng trên toàn thế giới, với nghiên cứu ban đầu cho thấy virus tác động đáng kể đến phổi ở những người phục hồi bệnh do virus.

Công nghệ này hoạt động bằng cách nhanh chóng in các tế bào in 3D để mô phỏng mô người cần điều trị như vết thương, nhiễm trùng hoặc khối u. Sau đó, các mô được thử nghiệm trong phòng thí nghiệm để xem làm thế nào một loại thuốc nhất định sẽ chữa lành bệnh trong thời gian thực.

Công nghệ có thể in các tập hợp tế bào 3D này trong ba giờ, trong khi tiêu chuẩn công nghiệp có thể mất từ hai đến ba ngày.

Một sự cải thiện đáng kể về thời gian hình thành là rất quan trọng đối với các tình huống cần sàng lọc cao để phát triển một loại thuốc để cung cấp liệu pháp trong đại dịch virus corona.

Nhóm nghiên cứu đang tìm kiếm cơ hội để bắt đầu nghiên cứu các tế bào bị ảnh hưởng COVID-19. Họ đang điều chỉnh các cấu trúc tế bào mà công nghệ phát triển để hiểu về việc chữa lành vết thương hô hấp.
