In April 2020, the Ministry of Science and Technology assigned the Military Technical Academy to implement the national independent of science and technology project "Research, design, and manufacture a medical robot system for transportation in the isolation ward with high-risk infection.”
After 1 year of implementation, in April 2021, the VIBOT-2 transport medical robot system was installed and put into trial operation to evaluate the technical features at 108 Military Central Hospital. During the process testing here, VIBOT-2 has received many comments from doctors, patients and experts to perfect and add necessary features before deploying in isolated areas, control treatment of C-19 disease. The inspection team of the Ministry of Science and Technology inspected and evaluated the features of the VIBOT-2 robot system at 108 Central Military Hospital, April 2021.
At the end of April 2021, the VIBOT-2 system including 1 Monitoring and Control Center and 3 robots was deployed in the isolation and treatment area for Covid-19 patients of Bach Mai Hospital - Facility 2 ( Phu Ly - Ha Nam).
Here, the system is deployed on 3 floors of Zone-6 to serve more than 150 patients (at one time nearly 200) of Covid-19 who are F0 negative. The medical staff of Bach Mai Hospital, Campus 2, evaluated the VIBOT-2 robot system as being very suitable to support and replace medical staffs in transporting foods, medicine, necessities and other items in the hospital infectious disease isolation areas with high risk of infection.
At the end of May 2021, in the face of the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic in Bac Giang, the Academy of Accounting and Control established an additional Center for Monitoring, Control and withdrawal of 2 robots running technical tests at Central Hospital-108 to prepare and deploy at the treatment area for patient F0 of Bac Giang Provincial General Hospital.

During the peak month of the Covid-19 epidemic (from June 1, 2021 to the beginning of July, 2021), the VIBOT-2 robot system supported the treatment of hundreds of F0 patients, contributing to reducing the load on health workers, to prevent cross-infection in the isolation area.
At the end of July 2021, when the epidemic situation in Ho Chi Minh City began to become complicated, the Academy of Science and Technology actively consulted the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Science and Technology to withdraw the VIBOT-2 system being deployed at the Hospital. Bach Mai campus 2 returned, did the preparation work and quickly implement epidemic prevention in Ho Chi Minh City.

On August 9, 2021, the Academy of Science and Technology deployed the VIBOT-2 robot system at Field Hospital No. 7 (An Khanh Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City). Here, the VIBOT-2 robot system operates smoothly, showing all the designed functions and set goals, such as transporting foods, patient supplies, and medical supplies from outside to the isolation area and vice versa.
Commenting on the VIBOT-2 robot system being deployed at Field Hospital No. 7 - Ho Chi Minh City, Doctor Tran Minh Tuan - Military Hospital 175 said that before, when there were no supporting robots, every day A militia group of about 6-7 people will take nearly 2 hours to distribute foods to about 10 floors of the hospital. Currently, each robot will be in charge of 4-5 floors, operating continuously for about an hour to be able to distribute all the rice to the wards.

Through testing and application in hospitals and isolation facilities for treatment of COVID-19 disease, it has shown that the VIBOT transport medical robot system operates stably and effectively.
On July 23, 2021, the National Council of Science and Technology, consulting on assessment and acceptance of S&T tasks at the national level, had a meeting to evaluate the outstanding results of the task performance and propose to continue to improve technologies and investment manufacturing more VIBOT robot systems to serve epidemic prevention. “In a very urgent time, up to the present time, it is 16 months that the project team has fully implemented the set content, in which there are many contents that exceed the requirements. Especially, the results of testing the robot system into practice to support Covid 19 patients in isolation wards have been evaluated well," said Dr. Do Quoc Quang - Board of Directors of the National Program for High-Tech Development, Advisory Group on Evaluation, Acceptance and Reviewer of the Council of Science and Technology Consulting, Evaluation and Acceptance of National Science and Technology Tasks of Ministry of Science and Technology comments.
