On July 21, 2022, the Department of Broadcasting and Electronic Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) and ACE under the Motion Picture Association of America (MPA) held a symposium: "Online Violations of copyright" and prevention measures in Vietnam”.

These information sites and social networks daily transmit huge amounts of press information, digital content, and video clips to millions of internet users.
In particular, many information contents are stored and posted illegally, do not comply with regulations on exchanging copyrights with content copyright owners, causing damage to the rights and reputation of content owner agencies.
Recently, the Department of Broadcasting and Electronic Information has received many requests to handle content piracy, most of which are entertainment content, such as football, movies, game shows, songs. Music and etc. The forms and methods of piracy are very sophisticated and constantly changing, always hiding detailed information and implementing cross-border services from abroad to provide services to Vietnam.
This requires a coordinated solution to deploy piracy inspection, profiling, and implement best practices for copyright protection for the rightful owners of aerial digital contents.
According to Mr. Jan van Voorn, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Content Protection at ACE, Vietnam has great potential to become a growing market for legal content. However, with pirated websites and services, such as Phimmoi, operating from outside Vietnam, Vietnam is also becoming an international focus of digital piracy.
