Attending the conference, there were Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Science and Technology, leaders of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, the Natinal Offive of Intellectual Property, the Department of Science and Technology of Thua Thien Hue province, the Departments, and branches of Thua Thien Hue province, representatives of a number of universities, research institutes, industrial property representative organizations from 62 Departments of Science and Technology across the country.

Attending the conference, delegates had access to the following contents: Overview report on state management of industrial property in 2022 at central and local levels, mission orientation in 2023, Current status and development orientation of state management of intellectual property in the locality: Approach from Thua Thien Hue province; Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Intellectual Property in 2022 – issues posed for state management of intellectual property in the locality; Developing and implementing the Intellectual Property Strategy in Can Tho city; Renovate and improve the efficiency of intellectual property development to serve the socio-economic development of Ha Tinh province; Strengthen the state management of intellectual property, protect intellectual property abroad for key products of Bac Giang province; Innovation in intellectual property development today: approach from the perspective of state management; Commendation of collectives and individuals with achievements in local intellectual property management in 2022.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Minister Huynh Thanh Dat emphasized that the reality of socio-economic development over the periods shows that IP plays a very important role for each country, especially in the context of the fourth industrial Revolution. In line with that context, the IP Strategy to 2030 has been promulgated by the Prime Minister in the direction of integrating IP in socio-economic fields. Therefore, state management of IP is one of the important activities, playing a leading role in the process of realizing that goal. The Minister also said that, besides the achieved results, there are still shortcomings, limitations and issues that need to be considered and resolved, so through this Conference, the Ministry of Science and Technology will have more arguments to explain issues in the revised IP Law to complete submission to the National Assembly for consideration and promulgation, as well as to have correct orientations in directing the implementation of the National IP Strategy and the intellectual property development Program in the period of 2022-2030.

Mr. Ngo Anh Tin, Director of Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology spoke at the conference

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Ngo Anh Tin, Director of Can Tho Department of Science and Technology, said that in 2022, Can Tho city had 546 industrial property rights applications, up 27% compared to 2021 and 393 new industrial property rights protection titles granted by the NOIP, an increase of 27% compared to 2021. The number of new titles granted in 2022, 118% more than the target of socio-economic development plan 2022 of Can Tho city. All 10 priority tasks for the implementation of the IP Strategy to 2030 have been issued by the concerned departments and agencies and advised the City People's Committee in the form of programs and plans. In which, the science and technology sector advises 05 Programs, Plans and projects: Intellectual Property Development Program; Program to support small and medium enterprises to innovate technologies and equipment; Plan to support the development of innovative startup ecosystem; project of application and management of traceability system; Plan to support enterprises to improve productivity and quality of products and goods. In addition, 02 scientific and technological tasks on IP have been accepted (Thanh Dat clean rice brand and Tan Thoi durian brand) contributing to improving the efficiency of enterprises in exploiting intellectual property. Support the implementation of 04 new tasks and advise the City People's Committee to approve the list and cost estimates for 02 science and technology tasks to be implemented in 2023,...

At the conference, the Ministry of Science and Technology and Thua Thien Hue province awarded Decision No. 314/QD-BKHCN, dated March 7, 2023 and awarded certificates of merit to 10 collectives and 16 individuals with outstanding achievements in the State management of intellectual property in 2022. Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology has Mrs. Tran Thi Thanh Diep, Head of Division, Division of Specialized Management, Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City. The Minister of Science and Technology awarded certificates of merit for outstanding achievements in the state management of IP in 2022.
