Patent for treatment of saline water
In order to overcome the situation of saline soil in some localities, MSc Ho Quoc Hung and his colleagues invented a device to create agricultural ionized water, helping to improve the quality of irrigation water for farmers. This solution is honored in the Vietnam Innovation Gold Book 2021.

Facing the situation of global warming, in our country today, the process of salinization is increasing, making the cultivated land area shrinking. Working for many years at the Center for Application of Science and Technology Advancement (Can Tho City), MSc Hung is familiar with the climate and people here, as well as understands the difficulties of the people in the surrounding saline areas in agriculture. After a long time of research, Mr. Hung and his colleagues have successfully made a device to create agricultural ionized water.

According to Mr. Hung, ionized water has unique physical and chemical characteristics that contribute to improving the quality of irrigation water and saving water, supporting the absorption of water and nutrients by plants to help plants grow faster, increase productivity and quality. Ionized water also helps to improve the soil, balance the ecosystem in the soil, which is one of the benefits in agriculture in accordance with the current situation of "living with salt".

During the research, the authors conducted equipment experiments with broccoli, repeated 3 times and with 3 different salinities, then analyzed the parameters after magnetic treatment. The results showed that, after the river water was run through the integrated magnetic system twice, the parameters in the river water decreased significantly.

During a practical test at the tangerine garden of Mr. Trinh Van Nguyen (Trung Thanh commune, Co Do district, Can Tho city), the results showed many positive signs. Previously, Mr. Nguyen, like many other farmers, used untreated river water for irrigation. However, the negative effects of climate change and saline soil have changed his mind about investing in technology in farming. After using the ionized water generator, Mr. Nguyen noticed a clear change, the trees produced more and more fruits, the leaves and fruits were also shiny and more beautiful than before.

According to calculations from experiments combined with monitoring of actual mounting models, Mr. Hung said that plants better absorb nutrients in soil, fertilizers and drugs by about 15-20%, helping to save costs of fertilizer for the people. At the same time, the equipment production cost is about 70 million VND, cheaper than RO water purifier with the same capacity in the market, so it is easy to invest and install it for people.

At competitions, the agricultural ionized water generator device of the author group was highly appreciated for its application of magnetic physics technology to the treatment of alum contaminated groundwater and at the same time changing the physical properties of water to help plants grow better absorb nutrients in the soil and fertilizers, avoid too much fertilizer residue in the soil leading to nutrient loss.

With high economic efficiency and applicability, the agricultural ionized water generator has won the Second Prize of the 10th Can Tho Technical Innovation Contest in 2018-2019 by the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Can Tho City organized and honored in the list of scientific and technological works and solutions of the Vietnam Innovation Gold Book in 2021.
