Honoring the role of women in promoting innovation activities
In response to this year's World Intellectual Property Day 26/4 with the topic "Women with Intellectual Property, Promoting innovation and creativity", the National Agency for Science and Technology Information (Science and Technology) coordinated with the National Office of Intellectual Property, the Association of Vietnamese Women Intellectuals to hold the Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition of Intellectual Property and Innovation Results of Vietnamese Female Intellectuals in Hanoi.

Women accounted for 46% of the total R&D workforce
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Permanent Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung said: In the rapid development of modern technology towards the 4th industrial revolution, intellectuals have become a special resource, creating the strength of each country in the socio-economic development strategy. In order to achieve the goal of turning our country into a modern industrialized country, it is necessary to maximize all resources and national intellectual potential, especially the creative capacity of the force of female intellectuals has been holding a very important position.
According to statistics of the National Department of Science and Technology Information in 2019, the number of women accounted for 46% of the total research and development human resources. The Vietnamese female intellectual community is very diverse, including female scientists and entrepreneurs in all fields. Female intellectuals have contributed many valuable scientific works on theory and practical application in many fields of social life. There are research projects and scientific initiatives that benefit the country tens of billions of dong.
Attending the exhibition, there were nearly 30 stores of 38 units representing typical Vietnamese scientists and female businesses, displaying and introducing products, equipment and technologies in many different fields (pharmaceutical, biomedical, mechanical, agricultural, etc.).
These intellectual properties have also been actively exploited, developed and commercialized by scientists and businesses, bringing significant economic value to continue to invest more in research and innovation, creating new breakthroughs for science and technology in Vietnam.
Vietnamese women contribute a lot to the country's economic development
Director of the National Office of Intellectual Property Dinh Huu Phi said that intellectuals in general and female intellectuals in particular have become a particularly important resource, creating the strength of each country in its science and technology and innovation development strategy. Statistics show that the role and number of women participating in the field of intellectual labor is increasing, thereby, making great contributions to the national socio-economic construction and development.
Women everywhere in the world have been playing a significant role in creating breakthrough scientific research results, setting new creative trends, contributing to the transformation of the world in a more positive direction. Through scientific research and innovation activities, women have been asserting their position and role and deserve to be recognized and honored by society and the community.
According to the Director General of the Asia - Pacific Department of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Andrew Mecheal Ong, Vietnamese statistics show that 37% of female students graduate from science and technology schools; About 25% of Vietnamese enterprises are owned by female entrepreneurs. Vietnamese women contribute a lot to the country's economic development. WIPO always helps and supports the development of the Vietnamese women and business community.
The exhibition is one of the activities to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day on April 26 and aims to celebrate Vietnam Science and Technology Day on May 18.
