According to experts, artificial intelligence and machine learning (ML) technology has been opening new doors for the development of personalized diagnosis and treatment methods, bringing new hope to fight against cancer.
In the field of cancer diagnosis, AI has brought outstanding benefits. Specifically, AI improves accuracy due to its ability to analyze millions of data in just a short time, helping to detect early signs of disease that humans can ignore. AI has fast analysis speed, helping to significantly shorten the time to evaluate patient samples, promoting a quick diagnosis process, allowing treatment to start earlier.
Thanks to AI, doctors can determine the most optimal treatment for each patient based on the genetic and molecular characteristics of the tumor, bringing new hope in the fight against cancer.
In the research project "Overview of AI applications in cancer diagnosis: Opportunities and challenges" by Associate Professor, PhD, Doctor Phan Dang Anh Thu, and colleagues in the Department of Embryology and Disease Anatomy, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy emphasized that the application of AI in cancer image diagnosis has become one of the breakthroughs in the medical field, clearly demonstrating the rapid progress of technology in the new era.
AI not only significantly improves the quality and speed of diagnosis through methods, such as X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging and neuroradiology, but also expands applications in image analysis and classification, data management and many other fields.
Universities and research institutes in Vietnam, such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University, and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology are actively researching and developing applications. AI in medical image diagnosis, especially in the field of cancer, and etc. With these advances, Vietnam is gradually asserting its position in applying scientific and technological advances to improve the quality of health care for people, especially in the field of cancer diagnosis and treatment.
