Developing intellectual property to promote science, technology and innovation

Mr. Luu Hoang Long, Director, reported on the outstanding achievements of the Department in recent times as well as key tasks in 2025, with special attention to digital transformation (DTS) to improve labor productivity, reduce workload and improve working processes. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized the role of intellectual property in promoting science, technology and innovation, in the context of Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo emphasizing the role of science, technology and digital transformation in the cause of national development.
During the discussion, the Minister suggested that the Department should look to neighboring countries to self-evaluate its position based on international data, while focusing on collecting internal data, cleaning and standardizing data to serve the effective digital transformation process. He emphasized that to achieve efficiency, it is necessary to focus on developing support tools for officials, coordinating with units such as the Ministry Office and the National Digital Transformation Agency, and speeding up the settlement of pending patent applications, especially those related to foreign enterprises, to improve competitiveness and the investment environment.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of public awareness of intellectual property, and the need to promote communication and training to expand awareness among businesses and people in the next 5-10 years. At the same time, he emphasized the role of technology exchanges, in which intellectual property must be integrated to form a closely linked ecosystem, in order to maximize the potential of tools, standards, measurements and quality in promoting science, technology and innovation, contributing to building a sustainable knowledge-based economy.
