This is the information given in the meeting on red flesh dragon fruit variety LD1 organized by the Department of Crop Production (MARD) on February 16.
The LD1 dragon fruit variety was researched, selected, created by the Southern Fruit Tree Institute, registered for protection and transferred to Hoang Phat Fruit Company in 2017 for 5 billion VND. According to Mr. Nguyen Nhu Cuong, Director of the Department of Crop Production, this transfer is completely reasonable and ensures the provisions of law.
In order for exporters and dragon fruit growers to feel secure in their production, in the coming time, Hoang Phat Fruit will send an official document to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the relevant authorities, including commitments and fees and specific spending solutions.
Currently, more than 90% of Vietnam's dragon fruit is exported to China. Therefore, according to experts, the copyright issue of LD1 red flesh dragon fruit variety will not have much impact on Vietnam's dragon fruit exports in the near future.
