Development of Cao Lanh GI for mango products
In the afternoon of April 25, in Cao Lanh city, the delegation of the National Office of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) led by Mr. Dinh Huu Phi, Director of the National Office of Intellectual Property worked with the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Thap province on the program of cooperation between the Ministry of Science and Technology and the People's Committee of Dong Thap province related to the field of intellectual property.

Mr. Dinh Huu Phi emphasized, Dong Thap has many strengths in agriculture with many famous agricultural products. The functional sector of the province has supported and developed intellectual property for local key products.
In the coming time, NOIP will support Dong Thap in training, capacity building on management and development of trademarks and geographical indications in training programs; attach importance to the content of management capacity and agricultural product brand development in the training program, in order to promote and improve the operational efficiency of the owners and cooperatives; organizing tours, learning experiences in management, developing community brands, geographical indications.
According to the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Thap province, up to now, the province has registered to establish industrial property rights for certification trademarks, collective marks, geographical indications and has been granted by the National Office of Intellectual Property 38 Certificate of registration of key and specific agricultural products.
Including 1 geographical indication, 33 certification tramarks and 4 registered collective trademarks establishing industrial property rights. In addition, there are a number of key agricultural products, with specific characteristics, which are completing registration procedures to establish rights at the National Office of Intellectual Property, typically: Dong Thap geographical indication for lotus products; certification trademark of Sa Dec Flour Village, Cao Lanh guava pear.
In addition, Dong Thap province's functional departments developed Cao Lanh geographical indications for mango products. The Department of Science and Technology cooperates with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to appraise and issue a certificate of geographical indication registration of Cao Lanh mango for Westernfarm Limited Company, T&H Clean Agricultural Products Limited Company; guiding the company to use geographical indication stamps, logos on products, goods packaging and business vehicles; guiding quality control and product preservation techniques.
Organizations and individuals granted the right to use geographical indications of Cao Lanh mango have been gradually promoting and exploiting their inherent strengths and potentials, contributing to promoting and bringing products to consumers in the region and abroad. The province has 296 mango growing areas with an area of over 8,200 hectares that are granted planting area codes, serving domestic demand and exporting to markets, such as China, Australia, the United States, New Zealand, Korea, Japan Japan, European Union, Russia and Singapore…
In the afternoon of the same day, at Dong Thap University (Ward 6, Cao Lanh city), the National Office of Intellectual Property and Dong Thap University jointly organized a training course on intellectual property.
