Protecting personal data in the digital environment is an urgent job
On May 25, in Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law in collaboration with the French Embassy in Vietnam organized an international scientific conference with the theme "Protection of personal data in the digital environment.”

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Xuan Hai, Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law spoke at the conference.
At the workshop, the delegates emphasized that, in the current era, especially with the explosion of the industrial revolution 4.0 worldwide, the protection of personal data in the digital environment is extremely meaningful important.
Currently, the situation of exposing, leaking, stealing, and selling personal data is common in cyberspace. More and more subjects collect, analyze and process personal data for different purposes but do not notify customers, without customers' consent.
Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Xuan Hai, Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law said: In today's flat world, with the rapid development of science and technology, digital technology, artificial intelligence, the issue of protecting personal data in the digital environment becomes especially important, and it is international without borders.
The workshop focused on an overview analysis of personal data protection issues; in respect of enforcement and protection of personal data in specific areas; fundamental new points in the Government's Decree No. 13/2023/ND-CP dated April 17, 2023 on Personal Data Protection, which will take effect on July 1 in the coming time; the role of lawyers in the field of personal data protection; protect personal data in the digital environment by the provisions of the criminal law on crimes in the field of information technology, telecommunications networks...
